Neu Olvenstedt is one of Magdeburg’s more recent districts and covers an area of around 3 km² in the north-west of the city. The foundation stone for the first residential complex in Neu Olvenstedt was laid in 1981. Strolling along the boulevard, sleeping without traffic noise, yet still reaching the city centre quickly by tram – that was the aim of the new district. Even today, the 11,387 residents (as of 2020) appreciate the traffic-calmed location on the outskirts of the city, the new tram line to the city centre, the numerous local shopping facilities and the lively atmosphere of this well-populated neighbourhood. The wide range of nurseries, schools and leisure facilities makes Neu Olvenstedt an ideal place for families to live. As the neighbourhood is situated further out on the outskirts, children can grow up in peace and quiet here, whilst the city centre remains easily accessible by public transport.
