The Neustädter See district is situated in the north of the city of Magdeburg and – as the name suggests – is best known for its bodies of water. As well as the lake that gives the district its name, Neustädter See, there are other lakes, ponds and watercourses that characterise the district and around which its residents have settled. Many blocks of flats line the waterfront. According to our 2020 survey, 95.7 per cent of our members enjoy living in Kannenstieg.

If you wish to travel to Magdeburg city centre, the main railway station is just a quarter of an hour’s drive away. You can also reach Magdeburg city centre in less than half an hour by public transport, thanks to the well-developed tram network from the ‘Rothensee’ S-Bahn station.

With two nearby primary schools, a comprehensive school and several nurseries and after-school care centres, a flat in the Neustädter See district of Magdeburg is the ideal place to live for families with children. The neighbourhood also offers a number of advantages for senior citizens and single adults: as Neustädter See is primarily a residential area with little industrial activity, you can reach numerous shops and doctors’ surgeries from anywhere within a few minutes’ walk.
