Fake police officers on the phone, the ‘grandchild scam’, dodgy ‘tradespeople’ at your front door: fraudsters often specifically target older people. As your housing co-operative, we want you to feel safe in your own home and in your everyday life. That is why we would like to draw your attention – and that of your relatives – to an event that addresses precisely this issue. If you are concerned about your parents or grandparents, it is particularly worthwhile attending this event together.
50+ Prevention Fair
The Saxony-Anhalt Police are inviting the public to the ‘50+ Prevention Fair’. The event will take place on 2 July 2026, from 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm at Magdeburg Town Hall.
This year’s theme is: “Ageing safely and having a say”. With this, the state police are placing greater emphasis on the safety of older people in their prevention work. The focus is on road safety and safety in everyday life, and above all on protection against crime, both online and offline.
Through specialised prevention programmes, personalised advice and relevant information materials, the organisers show you how to take preventative measures and empower yourself. You’ll learn how to spot scams, secure your home and feel safe again in your everyday life.
The event is being organised by the Saxony-Anhalt State Criminal Police Office.

Exhibition on fake news and deepfakes
A varied programme awaits you at the fair. Many of the information stands focus on greater independence, quality of life and health. An exhibition on ‘Fake News and Deepfakes’ clearly demonstrates how digital manipulation works and how you can spot it. Interactive workshops and talks will focus on fake online shops, scam calls and investment fraud. Musical entertainment will be provided by the soul band of the State Police Orchestra, featuring Lothar Schirmer and ‘Scam Tricks with Soul Music’.
There is also plenty of opportunity to find out more and exchange information. The LKA’s regional prevention unit, the Federal Police’s prevention unit, Deutsche Bahn’s prevention team and the Saxony-Anhalt Consumer Advice Centre will all be present. Senior safety advisers will also be there and will take the time to have personal conversations with you and answer your questions.
